Air “Force Shaping”…
After two straight years of “Force Shaping” initiatives
the D.O.D has decided to now extend the program for
2007 to the Enlisted ranks, an all volunteer organization
made up of willing, patriotic Americans. For those not
familiar, Force Shaping is the process imparted by the
Department of Defense to reduce overages within set
ranks and certain career fields.
In fiscal 2006, the Air Force brought in 30,889
individuals, exceeding its target by 130 Airmen,
said Brig. Gen. Suzanne M. Vautrinot, commander
of Air Force Recruiting Service. "We've had an
extraordinarily successful year, not just in bringing
the right number of people in, but we brought in the
right number, the right quality, with the right
skill sets, at exactly the right time," she said. On
average, each Squadron within the AFRS manages a
Marketing budget of some 1.3 million dollars. As
willing service members are forced to separate are
we to expect that less money will be spent Marketing
the Air Force as a career choice to young Americans?
Will the DAF provide adequate transition services to
service members that will not be prepared for the
monumental challenges they face?
