12-yr-old relies on WoW knowledge to fend off real life moose attack

This is the kind of story that you know can't be made up, it's just too bizarre. And it's in Norwegian, so I'll just have to take it at face value. Here's the basic rundown: The boy and his sister were taking a shortcut through the woods on the way home from school when they came upon a moose who got aggressive. The kid started shouting to distract the moose while his sister ran away and when faced with a very irate and very large mammal did what he had done many times before while playing his Hunter in World of Warcraft. He fell over and feigned death. Eventually the moose lost interest and toddled off.

Absolutely hilarious.

Reminds me of the guy who was biking along and saw a woman fall in front of an 18-wheeler. Witnesses say he dove off his bike, snatched her up and got out of the way of the truck - he claimed playing unreal tournament gave him the reflexes and quick decision making he needed to do it.

So if you count the guy in (korea, I believe?) who died after not eating or drinking for like 5 days while playing wow, I think the 'wow killed me/wow saved me' count is at about 1 to 1.

It's true- video games are blamed when people do bad stuff, but are not properly praised when people do good stuff. I can't find it now, but I recall reading about a guy who stopped a mugging, and later claimed to have been influenced by his many hours of playing Counter Strike.

I know I'm kind of off the point here but playing dead is not the best thing to do with a moose because it's likely to trample you to death. Just thought I'd mention it in case anyone else has a moose problem. The best thing is to get something between you and it - like a tree.
