Bolivian President Evo Morales, in New York to speak at the UN General Assembly, made an appearance on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart last night. In the interview, Morales told Stewart how he--a poor coca farmer--has risen to become leader of the country and followed through on a platform of Agrarian reform. It's the second interview with a world leader that Stewart has done; the first was Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf last year.

Both interviews were relaxed, warm and informative chats with the world leaders; if Stewart keeps this up, he risks being recognized as a talented journalist, not just a talented satirist. Gasp!

View the interview here.

An enthusiastic crowd loudly welcomed Morales, the former leader of Bolivia's coca farmers.

The leftist Morales spoke through a translator and, at first, delivered serious answers to the host's questions.

Argh! I totally missed last night's show! While The Daily Show is for entertainment purposes, Stewart really is a talented journalist. The satire factor reminds me of the stereotypical British comedy when they make fun of their government. I have no idea why, but it reminds me of that.

My favorite parts of the show are the video clips when they show someone saying one thing, and the next time saying "I never said that, I was misquoted." -then they show the video again. Damn near bring tears to my eyes every time.

Good stuff.
