Cashmere Mafia: it's like Sex & The City, without the sex appeal...

The "Cashmere Mafia" has finally aired on ABC tonight and although I missed the first part , what I saw was enough to make my early verdict. Please excuse my high expectations from the show caused by the long break from girls-only series on TV, but Cashmere Mafia perfectly defines the miserable 40 something successful female New Yorker and everything that' s wrong about her. Too much work, too little personal life. There is nothing that makes me more sad than successful, fashionable but miserable women. Cheating husbands, post-promotion breakups, pretentious award shows and all-girls pre-fix lunches in midtown restaurants make me sad. The last line of the pilot "it' s gonna be so much fun" couldn't sound more depressing ...

I caught snippets of the show last night: cliched, unoriginal, and superficial. Looks like ABC has invested a lot of money into a show that is just average.

We set jetted down to Manhattan to visit the set of the shooting of an episode of Cashmere Mafia. This was outside of a bar scene where they were filming. You can read more about the trip at http://www.onlocationvacations.com

I came across the set of "Cashmere Mafia" on September 7, 2007 off of Park Avenue. The photo I took was of the crew's set-up and catering service, as they were filming inside a town house. I was told Lucy Liu was starring in it and was curious as to how the show would be. I happen to generally like shows that take place in NYC. I watched the premiere the other night, and although I do prefer Sex and the City, I will give this new show a chance. Maybe I'm just bias because I saw them filming and it's in NYC, but we'll see...

It's true, I don't know if it's really trying to be another show (SATC) or something different. Here's an atricle from DailyCents.com :
