Harry Potter franchise is history`s biggest

According to Warner Bros Pictures, the success of the latest film in the series, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, has boosted the "Harry Potter" films to the top-grossing film franchise in history.

The combined worldwide box office gross for the five Harry Potter films to date is in excess of 4.47 billion dollars, surpassing the box office totals of all 22 James Bond films and the six Star Wars movies.

All five of the Harry Potter films are counted among the 20 top-grossing box office hits of all time.

And with Order of the Phoenix still pulling in audiences around the world and two more highly anticipated Harry Potter films in the pipeline, the series should easily build on that lead in the coming months and years.
