Jon Stewart to host Oscars

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced that The Daily Show host (and my future husband) Jon Stewart, will return to host the Oscars in 2008. This will be the second time Stewart hosts; he first took the stage in 2006. Last year's host was Ellen DeGeneres.

When I was living in New York last year I attended a taping of my husband's show just before the Oscar telecast. He reported to us in the audience that he was testing out his Oscar shoes by wearing them on the Daily Show all week. Then he did a little dance to illustrate that point. Then we kissed.

Okay, maybe the last part didn't happen. Regardless, I am excited to see Stewart and friends up there again. Last time he took a few writers with him...hopefully he gets the same privlelege this year. I want more smart satire!

Stewart got mixed reviews when he hosted the 78th annual awards. Some jokes fell flat and some critics expected the political satirist to be edgier.

Stewart joked that he is thrilled to be asked for a second time, because the third time is a charm.
