Coming sometime soonish is the film adaptation of Negative Happy Chainsaw Edge... I've never read it, but you gotta admit that the title is catchy. At risk of generalizing by country, Japan has a great track record with graphic novels, adaptations, (Death Note) horror films (The Ring, The Grudge, which have since been Westernized in remakes), and stylistic filmmaking.

And they're not shy with films that depict mind-numbing violence... I won't even put in a link for Miike's Ichii the Killer. You're welcome.
