Orcinus - Oprah the Nazi??
Is there a new illness congenital to conservative chat show pundits? Is it spreading?
Here we have Brian Suits of Seattle's WKVI-AM radio calling Oprah Winfrey, (of all folks) a Nazi for her apparent support for presidential candidate Barack Obama. What possible excuse can be presented to explain this away? One can only wonder... - The Angryindian

Original source: Orcinus : - As Sara just noted, there's a terrific post by Glenn Greenwald about the right's increasing tendency to call liberals (and anyone else it disagrees with) "Nazis" and similar epithets. And if you want a crystal-clear example of this, Spocko once again caught a radio talk-show host -- in this case, Bryan Suits of Seattle's KVI-AM actually calling Oprah Winfrey a Nazi:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Does the fact that only Barak Obama is -- well, the only presidential candidate that will appear on Oprah's show, does that make her a Nazi racist? Is it mutually exclusive that a black woman can be a also a Nazi? I don't think so. I frankly think she is a Nazi.
... I think she has a right to do what she is going to do, I think it makes her a racist though. And I'm not goin' use any kind of coded language or whatever. Anyone can be a racist, we all understand that right? Anyone can be prejudiced and I think she's prejudiced. I I don't think that Barak Obama is anything except a guy who's capable of of well-delivered high sounding rhetoric, but when one asks him for specifics eh his depth suddenly shows itself.
So, the fact that Oprah not only, and I don't have, I throughly understand why a racist would support someone of their own race. I get that, but the fact that she's excluding other candidates first of all-- as someone with a talk show I'll tell you yeah it's her right but it means something, it is revealing something, it's revealing that you are close minded. So if somebody can take her side, and like I say, I know that none of you watch Oprah, certainly no men do, but your friends do, so if you can explain to me why your friends don't think that she's a racist Nazi fraud, I'm curious, but like I say, it is her right.

The commentator is clearly ignorant, of a number of things, and uses the NAZI abbreviation in an inappropriate way. He is doing it for ratings.

What a bizarre point of view this guy has...obviously there's a lot he
doesn't grasp about Nazis, Oprah, politics, television, racism...the
world?!
This is a bit tough to wade through, however...is this
a transcription of Suits' actual on-air words? Could you make more
clear where your words come in vs. the transcription? What is Orcinus?
A little clarification of those points will make your post here just that much stronger. Take a look and let me know if you have any questions.

Katlin, I've improved the linkage and added the audio of the show from the links provided. This is not ignorance, he knew exactly what he was doing and calling Ms. Winfrey of all people a Nazi is patently using racism and Judeophobia as a tactic to demonise Mr. Obama as a democratic presidential contender. Since the radical Islamic "madrassa" lie did not hold up to the light of day, using code words like "Nazi" have weight, even if they are intentionally misused. The right has a long history of using such accusations to quell serious debate. Oprah is perhaps one of the most pro-Europocentric Africans in American media. To accuse her of Nazism is not only a bold lie, but shows how swift an African in this country, any African, can lose their acceptability within the White mainstream if they show even an ounce of community support. There is absolutely no direct evidence of Ms. Winfrey's intention on supportting Obama on the basis of a shared racial identity. She choose her candidate and he just happens to be African as well. If Jewish celebs throw their support behind Jewish politicians, are they in turn accused of supporting only "their own"? To suggest that invites wildly reactionary accusations of Judeophobia and support for anti-Jewish policies. His remarks were out of line and to suggest otherwise suggests sympathy for vicious manipulation of historical American racial paradigms.

Notwithstanding all you have said, still a patently bizarre opinion stated by this person, Angryindian. Oprah? A Nazi?

I was called a Nazi by two passerbys when I was smoking a fine Monte Cristo cigar while walking on a Vancouver street corner, guess passerbys with their Starbucks Tofu Lattes firmly clutched in a Death Like Grip took exception that Fidel Castro, though a Commie makes on fine cigar. I was surprised they didn't call me a Commie. Of course once being called a Nazi and much to the horror of my girlfriend I "GooseStepped" off the curb in my best Monty Python John Cleese impersonation. Granted their were stares, but hey, people today use "Nazi" so loosely that eventually it will one day hopefully lose all meaning, for instance Seinfield's Hilarious "Soup Nazi" sketch and Jerry's inability to stay away from his soups, stating to his friends, that this is the price of living in a "Nazi Regime" .

angryindian, good topic to discuss. "Nazi" seems to be the epithet du jour; most using it don't really even understand it.
Calling Oprah a "Nazi" is just another example of how some people seek to gain attention with rhetoric and excess rather than with substance.
