None of the paparazzi photographers involved in the chase of the Mercedes car in which princess Diana and Dodi al Fayed died in Paris 10 years ago will give evidence to the London inquest into their deaths, it was announced Wednesday.

Coroner Scott Baker, a leading judge who chairs the inquest, told jurors that a decision had been taken at a "very high level" in France not to force paparazzi to give evidence.

Baker, clearly disappointed, said the "apparent change" in the French position had occurred over the past week, and the decision had been taken "at a very high level."
