Beverly Hills (ANTARA News) - Frank Sinatra's blue eyes will stare out
from a commemorative postage stamp to be issued 10 years after the
legendary crooner's death, US Postal Service officials said Wednesday.
Sinatra's children -- Nancy, Frank Jr. and Tina -- attended a ceremony
to unveil the design of the stamp here Wednesday that shows the beloved
singer wearing his trademark fedora.
The design will be issued next spring on 120 million first-class
stamps, officials said at the unveiling, which coincided with what
would have been Sinatra's 92nd birthday.
"Our father loved this country. This would have been one of his
happiest days," Sinatra's children were quoted by AFP as saying in a
statement.
Sinatra was one of the 20th century's biggest entertainment icons,
famous for a singing career that earned him 11 Grammys as well as an
acting career that included an Academy Award in 1954 for "From Here To
Eternity." (*)
