UN chief hopes UNFCCC to take ambitious decisions

"We appreciate all of you who have worked hard day and night to produce a success, though you still have to make more progress in the future," the UN secretary general said.
He acknowledged that a decision of a negotiation should benefit and satisfy all parties while at the same time it should also be flexible.
In the meantime, President Susilo Bambang Yudohoyono who delivered his address earlier said that all delegates had spent a lot of time, energies and monies in the last 12 days.
"Both developed and developing nations should move toward the correct direction. Without an effective road map that is accepted by all, there will be no goal that could be achieved," he said.
He said that to craft a road map for common commitment and interest should be flexible. Therefore, he urged delegates to continuously discuss the road map in 2008 and finish it in 2009.
