Wednesday nights MOBO awards were relatively successful expect for one unexpected hitch. Reggae/Pop legend shaggy was scheduled to appear as a guest performer and co-host, but was unable to fulfill his obligations due to work permit issues.

Organizers for the event, did not submit his work permit request in time for the shows September 19th date at the O2 arena in London.

Noted as an oversight, sources close to the event explained to UK based Daily Mirror that applications were made for all confirmed performers, however it seemed Shaggy’s permit was not included in prior arrangements.

A spokesman for the U.K. Home Office refused to comment on individual cases, but warned: "We can't comment on individual cases but the onus is always on the applicant that they put their applications in on time."

Sean Kingston and Rhianna represented the Caribbean well copping The Best Reggae award and Best International Artiste respectively.

Shaggy was also on this years nominee list.
