These penguins are part of a much larger tableau named 'Heading South' by Stephen Walker to commemorate Hobart's role as a port in Antarctic exploration, and the journey of English explorer James Clark Ross who left Hobart in 1840 in his ships Erebus and Terror to discover Antarctica's Victoria Land and the sea and ice shelf which now carry his name.
