10:10 No Pressure Movie Taken Down After Complaints (Video)
The 10:10 Climate Change Campaign in the UK Released Their 'No Pressure' Campaign Video, But Had to Remove it After Violence Complaints
The film was written by Richard Curtis, known for his work on Blackadder, Four Weddings and a Funeral and the co-founder of Comic Relief, and directed by Dougal Wilson.
It features Gillian Anderson, Peter Crouch, Ledley King and David Ginola and its aim was to ask people and organizations to cut their greenhouse gas emissions by 10% in one year, and to bring to light people that do nothing about climate change.
But it wasn't the message some had a problem with, it was the way that message was conveyed. We have uploaded a copy of the video below, as the original video no longer exists on the web. Warning, it is not safe for anyone who dislikes the sight of blood or who may take offense to seeing people being blown up.
The video shows a few different scenarios, including young children in a classroom, and whenever anyone says they are not going to do anything about climate change, they are blown up at the touch of a button. Everyone not blown up gets covered in blood and guts.
When complaints started emerging about the video, 10:10 founder Franny Armstrong told The Guardian:
"We 'killed' five people to make No Pressure – a mere blip compared to the 300,000 real people who now die each year from climate change," she adds.
Jamie Glover, the child-actor who plays the part of Philip and gets blown up, has similarly few qualms: "I was very happy to get blown up to save the world."
With enough complaints received however, 10:10 took down the video last night and issued the following statement with the title 'sorry'.
With climate change becoming increasingly threatening, and decreasingly talked about in the media, we wanted to find a way to bring this critical issue back into the headlines whilst making people laugh. We were therefore delighted when Britain's leading comedy writer, Richard Curtis - writer of Blackadder, Four Weddings, Notting Hill and many others – agreed to write a short film for the 10:10 campaign. Many people found the resulting film extremely funny, but unfortunately some didn't and we sincerely apologise to anybody we have offended.
They have taken it off their website, although will not take it off the web so there are still many versions in circulation.
At 10:10 we're all about trying new and creative ways of getting people to take action on climate change. Unfortunately in this instance we missed the mark. Oh well, we live and learn.

We've already seen several stages in a radically short time. The Guardian announces the film with a puff piece. The primary movers pat themselves on the back for an 'edgy' piece to get attention.A vast majority of people react negatively, with some downloading the piece expecting it to be removed.Sure enough, the video is removed from the 10:10 site and Youtube, and those who anticipated the removal are putting up copies faster than Youtube can take them down. At some point, the video will stabilize on a non Youtube site and the world will be able to see what these people secretly would like to do to their opposition. The science isn't settled, and yet people are being indoctrinated in much the same way as authoritarians have in communist countries. People are much more suspicious now because of Climategate where top researchers were found to be colluding to fudge data, rig peer reviews and other various and sundry procedures to come to a non-scientific conclusion.A film such as "No Pressure" is jumping the shark in the worst possible manner. Well, maybe not the worst. These people are incredibly inventive.

No trees were killed, but billions of electrons were inconvenienced in the production and promulgation of this video. It defies belief that activists think these are good "edgy" agitprop tactics. They'll get a great deal more alienation than conversions with this kind of crap. What are they trying to convey? That they're enviro terrorists? This isn't the first time their elitist clique has come up with ideologically unsound, nihilist media campaigns. As usual this kind of baloney is more about marketeering, which brings us to the question of money - as in donations. We see it in the PETA leadership which runs that group like a $cientology outlet (can you say "alanon," or "narcanon?"). These rent-a-mob outfits are more interested in keeping their anthills stirred up & the donations rolling than garnering credibility amongst the general public. Oh no! We got complaints about our groovy video!! Help! Help! I'm being oppressed!

It is a funny shock piece, meant to wake people up out of their stupor over climate change. If every single person doesn't start doing something about their living habits right now it will get harder and harder to survive the changes in our planets atmosphere. So don't be bothered, bury your head in the sand and pretend that you have no connection to the world around you. Ill just press this button here :)

This isn't even about climate change and that's the outrage comes from. This video says this explicitly: "if you don't agree with us and do as your told, in spite of our reassurances that nothing will happen to you, we will murder you and do so in a public fashion to ensure that everyone elses toes the line." This isn't about the environment at all. This is about the fact that the further to the left you go poltically, the more dead bodies you pile up. This is about the fact that leftist are so psychologically depraved that large-scale murder doesn't bother them so long as they can wrap themselves in self-rightousness. This is a warning that government is a powerful tool that uses violence to achieves it ends and that leftists will never be shy about using the most extreme forms of that violence on anyone who would dare disagree with them, no matter who they are. A point made perfectly clear by using children in the first portion.

Frank, im sorry but you sound like a scratched record, the times ive heard this same old mantra preached literally word for word just goes to show how people have embraced this new religion without a speck of climate knowledge, the climate isnt having any more problems than it ever has done its just that some snake oil salesman have found a new way to make millions from fresh air, unfortunately people have taken it at face value without looking behind the scenes as it were & want to appear "on the ball" when in fact they are not even on the same playing field.
at 11:34 on October 2nd, 2010
finbar, couple of things, 1st up if your hearing a scratched record I am glad that word is that wide spread. Just maybe you need to check your own information before being so dismissive. I am not sure when green awareness became some kind of cult, except from naysayers without a real argument. There is plenty of multi-government backed good scientific data to support global warming and climate change. This broken record you are hearing are signs on the road saying watch out for the broken bridge round the next bend. From concerned people that don't want to go off the bridge. Who exactly is making money out of air? The car industry moving away from oil dependance as it is a finite resource? Yes maybe the film should have warmed up a little b4 blowing people up. Other comments about green is now red or implying racists undertones is just nonsense and missing the point of the film. It is just a comedy sketch with a green message. To much in peoples faces? Maybe so for such a pc world. So much out cry about reducing 10% of your carbon emissions. Really is very funny.

Frank, on the question of warming I'm with Phil Jones of the CRU, quote "theres been no significant warming since 1995", but the real question is not is it warming or is it cooling, the real question is "did mankind do it". The scientific evidence that man made C02 causes significant GW is zero. My question to everybody is if you have some scientific evidence you better table it now. Not models but evidence - we can all tweak a model to fry or freeze the planet - depending on what we choose - Hansen & the IPCC are choosing (without evidence) to set the model parameters so thats there is lots of warming. These guys are not acting based on scientific evidence so I can only conclude they have some other motivation - I might hazard a guess and suggest power or money but I dont actually have any evidence to conclude which. Anyway back to the question of scientific evidence - if you have some or even know of someone who has some please put the world out of its misery and fess up and get us all connected to it.

Here is a link to a list of scientific institutions that have all agreed from their own specialised backgrounds about global warming and the human impact. mind.ofdan.ca/?p=3641 that link has 30 institutions of scientific background that all have documented evidence or have examined the evidence and found it accurate and true. MET Office data showing significant human impact on temperature change. mind.ofdan.ca/?p=2909 Your argument is invalid :) Not sure where you found Phil Jones of the CRU saying your quote. As his own published paper found from his wiki page says just the opposite. I can only assume you are quoting him out of context in some manner. iri.columbia.edu/~goddard/EESC_W4400/CC/jones_mann_2004.pdf final part of the Conclusion: [104] Assessment of the empirical evidence provided by proxies of climate change over the past two millennia, combined with climate modeling efforts to explain the changes that have occurred during the period, indicates that solar and volcanic forcing have likely played the dominant roles among the potential natural causes of climate variability. Neither can explain, however, the dramatic warming of the late 20th century; indeed, natural factors would favor a slight cooling over this period. Only anthropogenic influences (principally, the increases in greenhouse gas concentrations) are able to explain, from a causal point of view, the recent record high level of global temperatures during the late 20th century. That publication typical of the good hard work done by scientists in and out of the IPCC report. Is the IPCC perfect? No. Does that invalidate everything about it? No. So since I find you arguments based on mis-quotes and nonsense I have to ask myself what is your agenda Mike of team B? All you other naysayers have anything else but rude or myopic view points please do share. A actual discussion would be so much more interesting. Please do enlighten me on how I am do anything but examining the evidence and coming to a natural conclusion. Oh and common sense is always good, if you burn 10000's (how many 0's? I forget) of years worth of carbon energy in a short space of time it will have an effect. wow reality sucks huh. Alex Cull I hear you about people finding the film to be to much and distasteful. To me the film is only about the absurdity of people who are not willing to change 10% of what is around them for the better. There is so much blood and gore in our media I find everyones outrage to be overblown, jumping on a band wagon or institutional maneuvering. Is it appropriate for under 18's? Of course not. Is it really more outrageous than alot of the media we digest daily? Maybe they should have had the people appear in bubbles at the push of a button. This is fun I never do this kind of thing.

Frank if you can 't see this as a propaganda message of the most sinister variety then you are in trouble. When I was at school in the seventies I was taught on and on about how there was a new ice age coming just around the corner, then it was global warming, then when they realised that wasn't working, they changed it to cliimate change. Climate change? It is constantly changing I can't remember two years in a row with the same weather patterns. CO2? Plants breathe it produce oxygen and make our food, we need it in the cycle it is not a menace. Do you know that in their Copenhagen treaty it was specifically stipulated that planting trees was not usable as a Carbon credit. Well their Carbon credit system is a con job in the first place and then to exclude the very thing that would be the cure for the problem if it really did exist well it just shows that the whole thing is a big scam, and more and more people are aware which is why this stupid piece of propaganda was pulled straight away, the people reacted, we aren't going to be fooled anymore by this BS.

Frank Teams C to C2 actually all look to be on Team A to me. But I comment on a few as follows: Team D (the AGU) listened to a presentation by Dr Roy Spencer on 16th Dec 2009 entitled "On the diagnosis of radiative feedback in the presence of unknown radiative forcings". Spencer asked all 300 of them present at the conclusion why they had all used a CO2 to water vapour feedback figure that was positive in their models where his presentation shows this figure is most likely negative (19 models as relied on by the IPCC - one of them Hansen's own team model) - the answer from all was something akin to 'weve always assumed its positive' its axiomatic isnt it? They (including Hansens people) agreed to do some more work on this front. Spencer has since published a paper (24th August 2010) - you can find it here - www.drroyspencer.com/wp-content/uploads/Spencer-Braswell-JGR-2010.pdf Team M produces substantial media info that I read as firstly emphasising effects, is poor on causes yet still has conclusions - this is not science. I see both these institutions slowly slowly losing public respect because of it. Team C2 just published a significant backing off on there AGW claims of a few years ago. You have suggested these Team A guys 'have documented or examined the evidence and found it to be accurate and true' - exactly what evidence have they so examined that concludes 'man made CO2 causes dangerous global warming' - I think none - if you think otherwise then as before I invite you to table it. The Met Office reference you made relies on models and models are not evidence - they might fit a small windows of time data sets but they do not fit large windows of time data sets - therefore they are flawed ie they are not evidence. Phil Jones was interviewed by Roger Harrabin of the BBC on 13th February 2010 - the following question and answer was in that interview: Q. Do you agree that from 1995 to the present there has been no statistically-significant global warming A. Yes, but only just. I also calculated the trend for the period 1995 to 2009. This trend (0.12C per decade) is positive, but not significant at the 95% significance level. The positive trend is quite close to the significance level. Achieving statistical significance in scientific terms is much more likely for longer periods, and much less likely for shorter periods. Frank the point here is that Phil Jones is conceding to a different position now in 2010 than he had in 2004, in other words hes changing his mind. Its not overly clear to me that you have done any recent work that readily finds my arguments to be based on mis-quotes and nonsense even though this is what you say about what I have written. It seems to me that you have basically chosen not to look up what Phil Jones has said more recently and you are also going close to suggesting models are evidence - which they are not. Your ask what my agenda is - there is no secret to my agenda. I like the scientific method - 'observe, question, hypothesise, predict & test and return to a new hypothesis on fail or a new prediction on pass'. And from this I like it that we can build a sound understanding of how all things operate. And in turn from this make policy for society. Good policy comes from science - simple. Unfortunately, most of my investigation leads me to conclude that many scientists and lots of politicians (and activists) are prepared to compromise science, by focussing on alarmism and avoiding real evidence, and are doing so for power or money. Not that its new - Galileo, Darwin and Einstein to name a few struggled with the same problem. Like you I dont enjoy the ugly side of the debate - I might get robust or very forthright but never with the intention of being rude. Like you I agree it would be great to have a real debate going. I am in Australia - but TV media debating on this subject has been pretty much stifled - although some minor programming methods are changing this a little of late. Lastly I'm concerned about your coming to 'natural' conclusions - this smacks of conclusion where emotion or belief gets in the way - I hope not. Science has a way of being more brutal than we would like sometimes and we do need to learn to live with that.

Frank, I feel for you man, I really do. Nobody wants to breathe bad air, drink bad water, etc., but in this instance, regardless of how someone who does'nt believe in anthropogenic global warming and the Co2 cause (Al Gore's movies for example) puts their point across, how articulate or inarticulate they may be, they are in the right on this one. Until the people pushing this are put in their proper sphere, the environment will never get better, because the people who are REALLY pushing this(funding the idea) do not have the environment in mind. Now, this is provable without a shadow of a doubt, and as I said, I feel for you cause we ALL have been indoctrinated to some degree and for whatever reason, be it not wanting to believe in anything that would cause them concern, or actual brains to see through the lies, it makes no difference, like I said, they are in the right on this. If you look(really look) you will see it is not the oil companies(the big one's) that are against global warming and especially the idea of carbon credits, they are pushing it wholeheartedly. Forget the money part for a moment, you obviously have a pc, you can easily read how the Club of Rome(whom Al Gore is a member) said, years ago, that they would use fake environmentalism and fake terrorism to bring about their agenda, which, I won't go into, not enough space. Quotes : "Isn't the only hope for the planet that the industrialized civilizations collapse? Isn't it our responsiblity to bring that about?" - Maurice Strong, founder of the UN Environment Programme"If we don't change, our species will not survive... Frankly, we may get to the point where the only way of saving the world will be for industrial civilization to collapse." -Maurice Strong quoted in the September 1, 1997 edition of National Review magazine."In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill...All these dangers are caused by human intervention and it is only through changed attitudes and behaviour that they can be overcome. The real enemy, then, is humanity itself."- Club of Rome,The First Global Revolution, consultants to the UN. Now, remember(or find out for yourself, depending on your age), that it was'nt that long ago that there was another big scare put out by the powers that be(to continue an advance of an agenda-like always) and it was global cooling, we're all doomed, another ice age. I have no doubt you care about the environment(as do I), if you really want something to fight against to help the environment and humanity, how about these ideas - genetically modified salmon are about to be introduced(it would take to long to go into all the problems with that, for natural salmon and humans), and GM crops in general are a horror-show waiting to happen, dead zones in the oceans, a ton of bills to not only to criminalize organic farming but make it illegal for you to grow your own food, it goes on forever. Btw, the Maurice Strong quotes above, he himself lives in China now(has a residence there anyway) and makes a ton of money off of the old style coal plants, while saying N. America should not have any coal plants, proving, his ideas(and he is not alone, he is a Rockefeller protege and a bigwig at the UN) have nothing to do with the environment. Also, remember(or find out) that the Kyoto protocol only called for certain nations to cut their carbon emissions (China, India) were exempt. There is an agenda here, I am sorry to say, and if enough people don't wake up to it, well, you would'nt believe me if I told you, look into it for yourself, and afterwards, suck up the fact that you've been conned and lied to, and start speaking out against this nonsense.

Frank: Looks like Team J is now in for a hiding too - see news of a few days ago thegwpf.org/ipcc-news/1670-hal-lewis-my-resignation-from-the-american-physical-society.pdf Long standing respected member of the APS resigns due to the corruption of science and the role of money. I suspect one by one most of the 'teams' will fall into disgrace - lets hope a good number of them work it out before that happens to all.

Frank D: Why don't you commit suicide to save the world some breath. You, group think lemming, are a danger to the rest of us.
at 23:31 on October 3rd, 2010
Yep, it was funny; the way they were serious about the environment.Wait, that wasn't the joke; the way they thought we should cut CO2 emissions by 10%.Oh, that wasn't the joke either? The way they want to mandate and control things and force every single person to... still not the joke?Oh, the killing; when instead they'll just fine you and imprison you for your dissent with their ideal world; they won't get around to killing malcontents... yet. HAHAHASee, it's funny because it's portraying the environmentalists as slightly more fascist and controlling than they really are. They do want to be able to control your actions by force; that's not a joke at all. They just don't want the blood on their hands directly... oh wait nobody pressing the button got splattered did they? Are you sure it was a joke?
at 06:46 on October 4th, 2010
You are right Frank, I will keep a bonfire burning and sacrifice kittens and puppies three times a day until these people wake up and stop destrying the world!!!

See we just want to build this mosque over here.. You go talk about it and give it your approval.. No pressure. really.. Seriously.. No pressure.
at 13:42 on October 1st, 2010
Well, its so clear, that islamistic way is better for these clobalwarming fellows.Funny, that there is no evidense for that "man made warming" at all.
at 13:57 on October 1st, 2010
Oh come on, it's not greenies threatening to kill people - didn't you see the title, 'no pressure'? It's sarcastic. It's not clever and it's not funny, and it's clearly a really bad idea, but it's hardly meant to be threatening.
at 14:39 on October 1st, 2010
Well, the stupid religious eco-mentalists have pulled it and apologised for being such tw*ts. Wonder have much CO2 was generated by the 100-off people who made this crap? Basically, believe in our unfounded tosh or we will blow you up. Hummm, remind you of anything?
at 18:15 on October 1st, 2010
Green truly is the new red. Even more true after this debacle.

just more evidence supporting the radical environmental agenda to exterminate people in order to assert control over the planets resources for themselves.

Eco Humour by Eco Bulleys. Another non evidenced based and misguided bit of alarmism. 300,000 people have died because of Climate Change? Can anyone name one of them?
at 12:24 on October 2nd, 2010
Finbar Saunders, you were spot on with your comment on 1st Oct @ 14.29. Contrary to what Gore, Soros, Firth, Strong, etc.etc. etc. would have us believe, the debate is not over. Processes and drivers of global climates are very poorly understood and the UN is using the enormous uncertainties as the basis for its propaganda. Its agenda has nothing to do with controlling global climates (natures job) but everything to do with:- redistribution of wealth from developed to underdeveloped economies,- establishment of a framework for global government,- enhancement of the finances of a privileged few. Thanks to the Climategate and the subsequent IPCC-gate revelations people are beginning to realise that they have been conned. Omly the gullible now heed the propaganda.Have a look at my blog "Global Political Shenanigans" (globalpoliticalshenanigans.blogspot.com/).Best regards, Pete Ridley
at 15:20 on October 2nd, 2010
Over at the Guardian the ratio of negative to positive comments is running at about 10:1. The first comment calling this the film disgusting has over 500 recommends. People are highly upset by this piece, not for the blood and gore but because of what it says very clearly; believe in what we say and tow the line or die. Without a word of a lie or exaggeration, this is the same kind of thinking that led to the final solution and to Islamist suicide bombers. One of the child actors who gets blown up sees he was happy to be blown up to help the world; a chilling echo of the Islamists who feel the same way.Saying that this is just an edgy, ironic humour piece misses the fact that this truly reflects the feelings of the writers.

A few weeks ago we had an eco-nutter holding people at gun point in the Discovery TV building. Now we have some more eco-nutters advertising that's it's OK to blow someone up if they disagree with the mantra of AGW. How long before some eco-nutter does blow somebody up? I just hope that any eco-nutter bombers are shot dead before they kill an innocent (yes, I know the eco-nutters do not consider non-believers innocent) person, just like James Jay Lee was in the Discovery TV building.
at 20:18 on October 2nd, 2010
This has to be the most disturbing video I've seen in a long time. I was basically just told that there is a group of people who would like me dead because I don't agree with them. And hey, while we're at it why do we kill my little brother too? He's only nine but who cares if he's not helping cut carbon? This campaign "ad" (and I use the term in the loosest way possible) was more of an ad for mass genocide than global warming prevention. Is anyone else a little concerned? And don't try to say it was just a video. This was more than that. Anyone who is willing to seriously consider this idea as a campaign doesn't think of it that way so neither will I.
at 23:24 on October 2nd, 2010
Frank D, the overwhelmingly negative reaction to this "funny shock piece" has not just come from the AGW-sceptics but huge numbers of 10:10's fellow travellers. Bill McKibben of 350.org describes it as "disgusting" and "distasteful". Charities such as ActionAid, who have been working alongside 10:10 have been "absolutely appalled" by it and have distanced themselves from the movie. Many of the comments I have read are by 10:10 supporters and environmentalists who believe that this episode has done great damage to their cause.
