Troy's plot of land is near this house. This is what all of the land around Barrow looks like. It's all Tundra. As you can see in this picture. All of the structures are built on stilts to preserve the permafrost. The heat from structures would melt the permafrost and would cause settling.

This picture was taken on my first trip back to Barrow Alaska. I was going there to find my heritage. This is an actual photo of approximately where I own some land. This land is approx 1/4 mile from the Arctic Ocean and just west of Barrow Alaska. The air temp was around 50 degrees in late July 2007.
