Possum Kingdom Lake Fire 50% Contained as Labor Day Weekend Approaches

The brushfire near Possum Kingdom Lake in north Texas is still burning, though firefighters have it partly under control. Firefighters are hoping that the blaze will be easier to contain once it reaches flatter ground with less fuel. The 101 Ranch fire is 50% contained.

Possum Kingdom Lake will be open for Labor Day Weekend, even though nearby homes have been evacuated due to fire risk. SHould the fire get closer to the lake, then the area will be closed.

The 101 Ranch fire has burned 40 homes so far, as well as several motor homes.

The cause of the 101 Ranch fire is still unknown.
