2009's 3rd Highest Global Temperature: Support for Climate Change
2009 set a record for the third highest Global surface temperature average since 1891. It tied with 2002, 2003 and 2006.
The annual mean land temperatures where above average in most land areas, except for North America and central Siberia. The annual global average for land temperatures have been rising at a rate of 0.68 degree Celsius over the past century.
Both land and sea water temperatures have been effected by CO2 gases as well as other pollutants and weather phenomena such as El Nino.
Last Decade's Increases in the Earth's Temperature
Over the past decade alone the following increases have been documented:
- 1999 + 0.10
- 2000 +0.05
- 2001 +0.27
- 2002 +0.31
- 2003 +0.31
- 2004 +0.27
- 2005 +0.32
- 2006 +0.31
- 2007 +0.28
- 2008 by +0.12
- 2009 by +0.31
The revised data clearly shows that global warming persists. The IPCC and several other organizations have reviewed and re-examined all data to ensure its accuracy and integrity.
Factors Contributing to Climate Change
The increase of CO2 produced in the industrial countries and the reduction of CO2-absorbing bio mass such as trees, coral reefs and other vegetation has also depleted available oxygen supplies.
Deforestation, desertification due to human activity and pollution killing vital organisms, overfishing and exploitation of natural resources without renewal programs dramatically effect these numbers as well.
An increase in methane production also contributes to accelerated green house effects and lessened oxygen stores.
Increases in Percentages of the Earth's Gases Last 30 Years
From 1979 -1984 pollution contributed the following percentage of gases to the atmosphere:
- CO2 - 56%
- CH4 13.6%,
- N2O 6.1%,
- CFC 22.1%,
- HCFC 2% and
- HCF 0.2%
Between 2003 -2008
- CO2 86.2%,
- CH4 2.2%,
- N2O 7.6%,
- CFC 5.0%,
- HCFC 4.7%
- HFC 4.2%.
Like a parasite or cancer killing its host, humans are in danger of choking the life-sustaining planet it relies upon for survival. The choice to change is ours and ours alone.

Unfortunately we are preaching to the choir, the conservatives will merely attribute it all to extraterrestrial activity...

you've outlined some good detailed statistics, well done and great relatable photo imagery too
good work!
