$3.6 Billion in Economic Stimulus goes to greening the Military

$3.6 billion dollars from the economic stimulus is to go to green energy projects in the US Military, but about $20 billion dollars overall is going towards green energy projects in general.
However, in the US Military there already has been some significant improvements to go green, as they want to implement electric cars for a start and despite the fact that they may be struggling in some areas, if they start the trend of going green, it will only be a matter of time before other industries want to follow suit.
As the US military consumes obscene amounts of fuel , if that starts coming from truly green sources and not from petroleum or liquid coal (or faux-green sources like byproducts of factory farming ), then this is a good thing for transportation in general. If the Army develops better fuel cells for soldiers on extended patrols these will be adapted for civilian usage. If the Navy starts putting solar panels on base housing and the Army builds a massive solar power plant, then it really sends a powerful message that renewable energy is a viable technology, today.

Thanks for this story, Amy. I agree that the military's greening efforts will send a strong message to the public.
