Turkey Earthquake 2011: 5 Found Alive

The death toll from the 7.2-magnitude earthquake that struck Turkey on October 23 has passed 270. It is feared that over 1,000 may be dead.

Meanwhile, five people have been found alive in the rubble. Nearly 1,000 buildings have collapsed in Van Province, and over 1,300 people have been confirmed injured.

The earthquake's epicenter was under the town of Tablani, which is nine miles from Van. Video footage of the earthquake and its aftermath has been emerging, which you can watch below.

Turkey Earthquake Aftershocks

Several aftershocks have hindered the rescue efforts; the most recent was a 5.0-magnitude quake that hit at 6:28pm local time on October 24.
