En earthquake of 5.6 grades in Richter scale was registered at 3:59 local time yesterday at 131 kilometer from San Jose del Cabo. It was not felt because it occurred deep under the ocean, experts say the same kind of earthquake on dry land could cause damage in Sudcalifornian cities.

La Paz, Baja California Sur.- La madrugada de ayer un sismo de 5.5 grados en la escala de Richter sacudió al sur del estado, específicamente ocurrió a las 3:59 tiempo local a 131 kilómetros de San José del Cabo.
A 5.6 earthquake according to the Richter scale occurred Monday morning at the south coast of the Baja California peninsula and the littorals of Sinaloa and Sonora, causing a slight separation from the continent of the peninsular plaque, there are no reports of victims or damage." The earthquake has no relation to the telluric movements in Indonesia, but it did generate a slight separation of the peninsula as it happens with each event of this nature" explained Luis Mendoza Garcilazo Science teacher at the Center of Scientific Investigations and High Education in Ensenada ( CICESE).
(EL UNIVERSAL).- Un sismo de 5.6 grados en la escala de Richter que sacudió la madrugada del lunes la costa sur de la península de Baja California y los litorales de Sinaloa y Sonora, provocó una ligera separación de la placa peninsular con relación al macizo continental, pero sin que se reportaran víctimas ni daños.
“Aunque el sismo no tiene relación con los movimientos telúricos reportados en Indonesia, sí generó una ligera separación de la península, como sucede en cada evento de esta naturaleza”, explicó el maestro de Ciencias del Centro de Investigación Científica y de Educación Superior de Ensenada (Cicese), Luis Mendoza Garcilazo.
