A 6.3 magnitude earthquake has struck off central Indonesia, the North Sulawesi province, about 101 kilometres south-east of Gorontalo at about 4:40am Friday morning. The centre is about 95 metres beneath the seabed.

Officials said there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage in the second strong earthquake to jolt the northern Sulawesi and neighbouring regions in less than a month.

Update: 7:07pm PST

There are still no reports of injuries, and a Tsunami warning has not been issued.
