60 million people stand in the path of Hurricane Sandy
The huge hurricane heading towards the East Coast of the US gained strength this morning ahead of its expected landfall tonight.
Ominously Hurricane Sandy, which has been dubbed 'Frankenstorm', was gaining in strength as it approached land, with sustained winds of 85 miles an hour after it turned due north.
The storm is expected to change direction again later this evening and veer to the northwest, putting the coastline of New Jersey directly in its path.
Hurricane Sandy is on track to disrupt the lives of as many as 60 million people, as it shut schools and governments from Virginia to Massachusetts, halted travel, prevented US stock markets from opening and upended the presidential campaign today.....Read more
