7 rare white lion cubs born in German zoo

Three rare white lion cubs born last month in the Schloss Holte-Stukenbrock safari park in West Germany were shown to the public and the media for the first time on Monday. Seven cubs were born to two different mothers on the 30th of June in what the park staff described as a "giant surprise." "The white lions are unique and we have a fantastic breeding complex, and thanks to nature and these amazing animals we have had success with our breeding programme," said Fritz Wurms, the director of Safaripark Schloss Holte-Stukenbrock. Two lionesses have not given birth to cubs at the park at the same time for at least 40 years. The white lion mothers 'Kibo' and 'Mawenski' gave birth to four male lions and three female lions.

This little lady is named Apple, and is resident at Mogo Zoo on the south coast of New South Wales in Australia approx 3 hours drive south of Sydney.
There is a major program at Mogo for the breeding of these magnificent animals.

I took these photos at the Lion Park in Gauteng, South Africa (30 Nov '07). They have quite a number of white lions there and they seem to be breeding very well.
