Flooding in Liguria & Tuscany: 9 Killed

Heavy flooding in Italy has killed at least nine people so far. Heavy rains have caused rivers in Liguria and Tuscany to overflow, deluging towns in fast-moving, muddy water.

The floods have been disastrous to the Cinque Terre, world-heritage fishing villages that draw droves of tourists each year.

Roads and bridges in the region have been washed away, and residents can only access their buildings from the second floor or above. Most of those killed were from Borghetto Vara; several people are still missing.
