"We will do our best to open these isolated areas. The measure is one of our prioritized programs for 2008," Aceh Governor Irwandi Yusuf said on Saturday.
Irwandi was here to visit Pusong village, East Langsa sub district, one of the isolated villages in Langsa city. Some 90 percent of the people in the area are poor farmers.
He added it would be very important to build several public facilities, including school buildings and community health centers.
He denied news saying the administration would relocate the local people to other places. "We do not force people of Pusong to move to other places as they take the measure at their own will."
He also promised to build an embankment in anticipation of possible abrasion.
