Serang (ANTARA News) - The activity of Mt Anak Krakatau in the Sunda
Strait in the last 18 days has been increasing causing frequent
volcanic tremors.

Anak Krakatau also spewed molten lava and hot rocks reaching 700 meters high.

According to the Anak Krakatau Monitoring Post in Pasauran village,
Cinangka subdistrict, Serang regency, on Thursday, that from 6 a.m to 6
p.m West Indonesia Time, it had recorded 195 eruptions, four deep
volcanic and 49 shallow volcanoc shocks, and 18 tremors.

"Unless the number of eruptions and volcanic tremors declined, the
molten lava may reach the surrounding land. This is very dangerous,
because a major eruption may be imminent," Head of the monitoring post
Anton said on Thursday night.(*) END
