Africa is potentialy in the midst of the world's worst natural disaster in history, no water - no food and 10's of millions of people suffering.

Our planet must be vegan to live. The amount of grains feed to the livestock industry is enough to feed the starving people of this world 2 times over.

The devastating drought sweeping across Kenya is causing widespread hunger, thirst and, in the case of cattle, death. Pictures of hundreds of cow carcasses being tipped into a mass grave near Nairobi highlight the scale of the natural disaster – and the clumsy or even negligent efforts of the government to deal with it.

The botched operation has caused anger and embarrassment among MPs, especially given that the government has been asking donors for urgent financial help in feeding the nearly 10 million Kenyans who are food insecure.

Drought has long been a theme in Kenya, and east Africa more broadly, though the extreme dry spells appear to be hitting with more frequency. Over the past decade pastoralists have become used to marching vast distances in search of grazing, ending up in once-unlikely areas.

The crisis is being exacerbated by high food prices, caused by poor harvests but also poor government planning that has left a large hole in the grain reserves. During the recent holidays many schools that serve lunches during term time stayed open simply so the pupils could be assured of eating one meal a day.

There is also a serious water shortage, with some neighbourhoods in Nairobi going without for weeks at a time. One reason is drought, but the destruction of water catchment areas – in some cases with the encouragement of the authorities – has not helped. With the electricity supply largely dependent of hydropower, low dam levels have also led to widespread power rationing.

There is only one solutioin for our Planet - for our Home. We must be Vegan, we must lead a plant based diet.It is now widely acknoweldged by leading scientist that the Livestock industry accounts for over 60% of Global Warming. So when we know something so simple - lets just do it. By you switching to a planet based diet you are not only saving our bautiful animal friends, you are also saving the world. YAY!

Is there a shortage of global food and water that this still exists to this extreme on this planet?

The less developed countries are the ones being most affected by Global Warming. It is so real....

It is so real - oh gosh, it is so heartbreaking. I hope we can change and be more compassionate.

Leading a more noble way of life will be such a big help. Leading a plant based diet from what I have read can help save the world.

Since 2001 Africa has received no less than 400 billion dollars in aid from Western Countries since the early 1970s. One would think they would get with the program, but do not by continually allowing Dictators to rule their countries, since DEMANDING INDEPENDENCE from Colonial countries.

Now let me be clear here, this is not a Racist Rant, but when someone states that they want INDEPENDENCE from a Colonial Country, Independence means, cut all ties, you are on your own period~! Now do the Math, despite THEIR DEMAND for Independence, They have been given 400 BILLION DOLLARS over 30 years, so you tell me, How their Independence worked out for them? Dictators taking the lions share of aid money to prop their dictatorship, yet the world continues to give them aid.

Perhaps the people of these countries should fight back if they truly want independence!

The following 4 African countries have some semblance of democracy, that is 4 countries out of all the others in Africa who are relatively prosperous and independent for the most part.

  1. Ghana - constitutional democracy
  2. Mauritania - democratic republic
  3. Sierra Leone - constitutional democracy
  4. Togo - democracy

Below are African countries still ruled by dictators who before they came to power did not have a pot to piss in monetarily speaking and now some are billionaires, some say through continually siphon aid money meant for their people.

  • Central African Republic
  • Congo (Kinshasa)
  • Congo (Brazzaville)
  • Egypt
  • Ethiopia
  • Sudan
  • Nigeria
  • Zimbabwe
  • Somalia
  • Kenya

Your story states by going vegan, you save our animal friends? I would think by going vegan, and not feeding grains or using water for grasslands for them to graze would eliminate these beautiful animals through starvation! Or am I missing something?

Course dont tell AL Gore this inconvenient truth as his speil on using alyrtnative (agriculture) based fuels would save the planet!  Guess Al Baby forgot about grain prices would skyrocket for fuel, grains which africans could use to survive.

This is indeed a dire situation, made much worse by the ongoing brutal dictatorship in Kenya.  Climate change is happening, whatever the cause.  You cannot have a simple solution to a complex problem.  Telling people to 'go vegan and save the Earth' will not work for the Inuit. It's a really short summer in the Arctic.  The real underlying problem is simply too many people and until we're willing as a species to limit our numbers anything we do will be a stopgap measure.
