AIDS & Genocide Are Good For Earth

Okay, I get it, the ice caps are melting, polar bears are dying,Indonesia is going to be underwater, and hurricanes will continue toravage Florida. My question is why am I supposed to care?

Sure, I know that global warming is happening but it shouldn’t stopme from driving a gas guzzling Range Rover, leaving my lights on whenI’m not at home, and burning my plastic GI Joe dolls and throwing themoff my roof into the ocean because energy waste and CO2 emissions arenot the problem, I am.

Carbon emissions might cause global warming but they are the result of an exponentially increasing population.

Currently there are 6 billion people in the world. There were only 3billion 40 years ago. Added to which 76 million people are addedannually. If nothing changes, in 43 years the world population willgrow to 12 billion people. And all of these people need to eat, drivecars, and log onto the Internet to search for porn.

Which means that even if you reduce overall carbon emissions it willbe impossible to stop global warming because any gains that are madewill be drastically offset by the ever expanding population.

But nobody wants to fix the population problem. They only want tofix the emissions which is like putting a bandaid over a gun wound. Sowhile women try and have children in their sixties and more people livepast a hundred; AIDS, Genocide and all other population reducingdiseases are doing more to save the earth than the Prius LeonardoDiCaprio just bought, and that is sad.

good stuff:

dylanotto, I like this story. It's good stuff.

While there are natural "escape valves" like famine and disease you neglect to mention the added problem that in the West we are trying to keep people alive far longer than they should.  Why can't we just accept that we are supposed to die when we get old.  Our grandparents were not so selfish.  They died when they were supposed to.  Time for doctors to say we will not treat your cancer Mrs. 85 year old widow and as for Mr. 80 year old heart attack...man up and drop dead already!

You know an even better idea would be to start wars in say....Africa or the Middle East.  That way the people who die are not our friends and neighbors.  It is easier that way.  With enough wars and maybe throw in some new diseases we can all live more comfortably.  Come on George W. you don't have much time left in office and clearly there is much left for you to accomplish!
