Helicopters, air tankers, smoke jumpers, and increased personnel are streaming into the fire zone. Some structures are now at risk.
This is a breaking news story. This is a "significant" fire so early in the fire season, officials said.
A wildfire burning on the Kenai Peninsula exploded in size Tuesday, jumping sixfold from 50 acres to 300 in a matter of hours as it crept uncomfortably close to some buildings, according to the Alaska Division of Forestry.
