A Wildfire Has Hit the Town of Slave Lake, Alberta in May 2011. Here is the Slave Lake Forest Fire Video

The town of Slave Lake, Alberta has been devastated by wildfires. The northern Alberta town saw hundreds of homes and businesses burned down after a forest fire swept through the region.

The CBC estimates that approximately 30 percent of the Slake Lake's buildings were burned down, including the City Hall.

More than 7,000 residents were forced to evacuate Slake Lake due to the wildfires. There have no reports of injuries or fatalities.

What Caused the Alberta Forest Fire?

An official cause for the Alberta wildfires have not been given, though it's believed that dry, windy weather helped spread the wildfire. The Slave Lake wildfire is reportedly up to 700 hectares in size. A second fire A second fire of about 2,200 hectares is also burning.
