Texas Panhandle: Amarillo Wildfires Destroy 12 Homes

Wildfires in Amarillo, Texas have destroyed 12 homes so far. Firefighters have been battling two separate blazes in the area since early May 29: The Pitt Road Fire and the Stone Ridge Fire.

The Pitt Road Fire is 90% contained and the Stone Ridge Fire is 80% contained: An earlier evacuation order has been lifted.Both fires were driven by high winds, high temperatures, and low humidity. A burn ban is still in effect for the region.
