It was reported that from 00:00 to noon West Indonesia Standard Time (WIB), at least 124 eruptions, 28 volcanic quakes, 64 tremors and 40 quakes were recorded at the seismograph.
So far, the frequency of eruptions and quakes of Anak Krakatau was fluctuating as marked by deep and superficial volcanic quakes occurring 10 to 15 munites apart.
"Anak Krakatau is assuming an alert status, and the people are not allowed to get close to the area of the mountain," said Evrita Lusia, a member of the Early Warning Team of the Center of Volcanology and Mitigation of Geological Disasters (PVMBG) at Carita Beach.
Last Saturday (Nov 17), Anak Krakatau let out a massive roar as it blasted a large cloud of smoke and molten red-hot rocks hundreds of meters into the sky at night.
Just a few hours later, a river of lava and stones glides down the slopes of the volcano as the early light of a rising sun tries to break into the clouds which have settled over the small and young mountain earlier.
