Anything can happen
Can you believe that, it just happened in my life! My apartment-Cedar Grove which is located at 15288, 100Ave Surrey was burned down February 17, 2009. As I can recall, the fire alarm went off at around 4:15 am in the morning. I went to sleep two hours before then because at that night I was rewriting my first Tech post for my Tech 114 class. I was so sleepy at that time, I did not prepare for something like this to happen in the middle of the night because the fire alarm used to ring many times, and no one of them were real, therefore, I kept sleeping even though the first alarm was ringing. After 10 minutes, my dad woke me up, he passed me a big black jacket and asked me to dress up quickly. I was very scared, because I could feel this was a fire from my dad’s anxious voice. Around 4:30 AM, both of us got out of the building safely, we stood in the community parking area. After 15 minutes, fire trucks came to my community. Tons of firefighters got into my building; and they checked different rooms one by one. Additionally, some of the fire fighters were holding the water hose to extinguish the fire from the roof. The fire was not put out until 12:30 noon time, the roof and all of the third floor units of the building were burned and destroyed. Compared to the third floor, the first and second floors were not burnt too much; however, they were all damaged by water and smoke. Most of the people who were living in the building became temporary homeless because of this serious disaster.
The good news was that after the government knew what was going on in my community, they provided us with vacancy in the Sandman hotel for three days, and each of the people received 200 dollars emergency gift card. Furthermore, some of the charity associations donated some daily needs to us. I felt so thankful of Canadian people; they had done something good for us. I am from out of the country and I always thought I was on my own, and nobody was caring for me in Canada. However, after this disaster, I figured out that all the Canadian people are together, and they help each other through hard times.

Good thing you got out. It took you 15 mins to evacuate though? Thats a little risky.
