Mr. Cuthbert is speaking from his government held employement, a government that continues to stone-wall treaties for all First Nations, Clayoquot Sound, Vancouver Island and British Columbia Canada.  Where the BC government is telling the First Nations that the government will "give" land to the First Nations...land that is not BC's to give in the first place then charge the First Nations for doing so....and after the resources have been removed and sold off to the highest bidder.  Come come Mr. Cuthbert, oh and you have something on your chin.

The arrogance of the environmentalistsIain Cuthbert, Special to the SunPublished: Wednesday, July 30, 2008

Randy Shore's excellent article on Clayoquot Sound describes yet another example of the inability of environmentalists to learn and adapt to change, which is why it is widely held that this tired movement is doomed to extinction.

During the 1990s "war in the woods," environmentalists along with first nations blocked forestry operations and achieved a moratorium on logging in areas of Clayoquot Sound, forcing industry to work with scientists and communities to develop ecologically and socially acceptable harvesting practices.

At that time a junior biologist and amateur journalist who contributed to Witness to Wilderness: the Clayoquot Sound Anthology, I did what I could to support those changes.

Hi Susan, I would like to understand the local situation. What are first nations, what is the Clayoquot Sound ? Probably you think about sustainable forest management, including local priority groups? The article is interesting, the title int'l seen? Does it include papermill  environment problems. Write some more to get us local understanding, seems very important, forest conservation for Canada.

Susan Jones, I like this story. It's good stuff.

Environmentalists only use first nations (native Indians) to further their own agenda.  They are no more aligned with first nations than they are with any other group.  As soon as the first nations people do not do what the self-rightous environmentalists want they toss them aside.
