A wildfire in Ashland, Oregon has prompted evacuations as it expands to up to 100 acres so far, with the hot weather and high winds not conducive to containment. At least fifty homes were evacuated as a precaution on Tolman Crek Road.

The fire broke out this morning off Siskiyou Boulevard and Crowson Road and spread up into the surrounding hills. Firefighters, trucks and tanker helocpoters have been deployed to battle the blaze.

At roughly 12:20 p.m. authorities issued an evacuation order for the 1400 block of Tolman Creek Road and Timberlake Drive. The fire is burning above the SOU campus near Siskiyou Boulevard and Crowson.
Siskiyou Boulevard is closed south of Tolman Creek Road and Tolman Creek Road is also closed at Siskiyou. The northbound off-ramp at Interstate 5's exit 11 is closed, and transportation officials warned that heavy smoke could slow traffic on the freeway.
