An avalanche struck in-bounds at Val-Cenis in France. The area crowded with schoolkids at the moment.
If my rather-unreliable French is to be trusted, nobody is reported injured or missing, which is great news.
More detail to follow.
Une grosse avalanche a traversé cet après-midi deux pistes de la station de ski de Val-Cenis (Savoie), en pleine période de vacances scolaires, faisant peut-être des victimes, a-t-on appris auprès des CRS de montagne de Modane.
(thanks for the tip, Johnny Summerton)

Me and four friends were on the mountain at the time but (luckily) almost at the bottom as they were progressively closing all the lifts. We heard a siren go off and then a few minutes later we heard a huge thunder-like rumble..... Very scary! It's amazing that nobody was hurt. What my friends and I thought was really nice was that our hotel staff came to every room that evening to check that everyone was accounted for.
