Backyard poultry farming needs to be relocated, expert says

"I have noticed that almost all poultry farming in East Nusa Tenggara are located in home backyard. I suggest that commercial poultry farming be relocated to a special location which is isolated, so it could be monitored easily," he said.

Meanwhile, thousands of chickens have died of Newcastle Disease (ND) since last week in Alak sub district, Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara .

"I went to the location to check on the death of chickens in Alak sub district and we concluded that the chickens died by the ND virus," Prof. Tabbu, said earlier.

He said the ND virus almost resembled the bird flu virus but after checking the bodies of the dead chickens, it was found out that the chickens had died of the ND virus.
