Bear Mauling News – 65 Bears mauled by hunters
They say the bears had it coming to them and that it is for their own good.
From the bears’ viewpoint, the best part of the story is that two hunters got lost and disoriented in the swamp in Garrett County Maryland and had to be rescued. They must have had a cell phone to call for help. I know that part of Maryland and it is beautiful. It is too bad that humans have to tramp around and muck it up even more.

The brief season for hunting black bears in Maryland, an effort to slow bear population growth in the Western part of the state, ended 10 days ago with 65 animals slain, state wildlife officials said.
The Maryland Natural Resources police reported last week on several incidents from this year’s hunt, including one in which two men got lost Oct. 24, opening day, in fog and brush.
Police said they were notified that two hunters had become disoriented in a swamp area of Garrett County. After a six-hour search in fog and dense foliage, the two were found unharmed, police said.
Police also said 12 people were charged on the season’s first two days with using bait in bear hunting.
After a 51-year halt, bear hunting resumed seven years ago as the number of bears in the state began rising again.
Officials warned that as bears search for food for hibernation, motorists in Western Maryland should watch out for them.”
