I keep getting news feeds Reuters that read "U.S. auto sales fall as recession deepens". I am sure that it was intended to be more "bad news" about the world economy, but I think that it is the best news I have heard all day. We have more than enough cars on the road already. We need to deal with the cars that are on the road now, we do not need more, and it appears that we do not want more either, so why make people feel guilty for not buying a new car?

We should focus on how many used or "Quality Pre-Owned" cars are performing quite well and how many Hummers and SUVs are staying off the road and sitting in car lots. There is no need to make more of something people clearly don't want and don't need, especially since the sticker price of a new car has never reflected its cost to the environment.

I know, we are supposed to feel guilty for all the auto workers that have or will soon lose their jobs, but sorry, I am not, just as I would not feel guilty if all the US soldiers serving overseas came back to the USA tomorrow and had difficulty finding a job upon their return. I have nothing against them personally, I just think their job is destroying the world. I would much rather have them doing something that benefits humanity and the environment.

I think we need to start developing cars that are more environmentally friendly and teaching people the benefit of investing in these kinds of cars.
