Big Snowstorm Barrels Into Capital
It is possible this huge
snowstorm could drop two
feet of snow on Washington
DC and the surrounding areas
of Virginia and Maryland. It
could be days before traffic
can return to normal.
The federal government dismissed nonemergency employees four hours early Friday as a storm was expected to blanket the region with 20 to 30 inches of snow. The National Weather Service forecast near-blizzard conditions with heavy snow, high winds and low temperatures
Mail delivery was suspended in Northern Virginia, Washington, D.C., Southern Maryland Saturday according to CNN news. Thousand of people in West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania lost electricity after snow caused power lines to fall. This storm could be a near record.
Amtrak canceled all southbound trains from Washington to Richmond, Va., where the storm got an earlier start as well as north and southbound Northeast Regional trains between Richmond and Boston.
Each hour brings even
worse news for this
blizzard. Maryland has
called out over 500 National
Guardsmen with over 100 vehicles.
Maryland is under a state of emergency today as an "extremely dangerous" winter storm hit the area with as much as 2 feet of snow. Total snowfall measurements around the state varied from a low of 5 inches in Salisbury to 32 inches in Elkridge

Lets hope this event does not confuse people into thinking global warming is not real

Some will claim it does but in fact it is normal weather for winter. We have some of these each year.
