Many cities celebrate Bike to Work Day 2008 on Friday, May 16.

Amongst them the Baltimore metropolitan area which uses the day to kick off their Clean Commute Month.
The reason behind it is that 'May is the beginning of theground-level ozone season, when we hear about Code Red and Orange OzoneAction Days. On those days, the air is dangerous to breathe –especially for the young and for the elderly'.
