We had our first snowstorm yesterday. None of the meteorologists knew it was coming and it took a lot of people by surprise. The municipality was not prepared and although it was only 3-4 inches, it caused quite some trouble.
Over 20000 homes were out of power for many hours - amongst many others, we "enjoyed" the quiteness of the evening and night. Fortunately they have not yet banned the stoves and fireplaces in Halifax, so we could fire up our stove. We could make some tea and did not get a cold...
They say that about 1500 (yes, fifteen hundred) people got stranded on a stretch of Hwy 104, a toll highway and they could not go anywhere for 18 hours! What a night for them.
So we were lucky last night...

Last night we had another snowstorm, this time we had over a foot - accompanied by another power outage, though this time shorter.
