Speaking on the last day of the 13th Conference of Parties (COP) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) here on Friday, Bloomberg confirmed the present US federal government`s poiicy was not in favor of carbon emission reduction measures as recommended by the Inter Governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
In its fourth report released last month, IPCC said climate change could be slowed down by reducing CO2 emissions by 25 percent to 40 percent by 2020, and by 60 percent to 80 percent by 2050.
The United States has so far not indicated any intention to reduce its national CO2 emission rate. However, Bloomberg said he was optimistic that the US policy would change in accordance with a shift in the country`s view on the climate change phenomenon.
