Blooms galore at S'pore garden Festival
It's that time of year again when avid horticulturists get set to push their prized plants for the top prizes. The S'pore Garden Festival will be running from July 25th - August 1st.
Hoping to get a gallery and collection of stories from all different garden festivals, we are looking for avid contributors to this story - please comment with your suggestions and experiences.
Over 200,000 temperate and tropical plants have been modelled into 32 masterpieces by award-winning designers.
Winner of the "Best of Show" in the Landscape Design category was a creation by Kazuyuki Ishihara. Called 'The Green Breeze' (Ryokufu Tei), it is made with moss and native Japanese plants that are reminiscent of the designer's childhood hideaways in his rural village.
Ranging from the whimsical to the philosophical, the Singapore Garden Festival packs a visual feast into 24,000 square metres at the Suntec City Exhibition Centre.
For all those garden guru's and flower fanatics it would be great to get a list of all the flower competitions and festivals going on in your area. What are you interested in? Post a comment and let me know.

jay.el, I like this story. About an hour from my home is Longwood Garden, Pennsylvannia. While not a festival it is open all year round and has beautiful flowers, trees and plants. They have Japanese Bonzai trees that are incredible. I look forward to more comments about festivals.

I would certainly recommend anyone to see the Singapore Garden Festival as it is truly a wonderful display of some of the most beautiful plants one may find around the world.
I personally found the gigantic carnivorous plants from Borneo very majestic and impressive.

Besides admiring and appreciate the beauty of the floral displays at The Singapore Garden Festival 2008, there are so many displays of orchids, floral works of art, landscaping for photo taking.

The exhibit I did not appreciate was the one with the Bentley car, which was very out of place. A good example of product placement carried out too zealously. It stuck out like a sore thumb.

One of the unique orchid species seen during the show.
The curly petals are amazing.
