BP is still deciding whether or not to attempt the top kill procedure, and will not cut the live feed of the oil spill, broadcast from the ocean floor. The top kill involves pumping super-dense fluid into the blowout preventer (BOP) at a rate of over 7,500 liters per minute to counter the upward pressure of the leaking oil.

BP CEO Tony Hayward said that the chance of success was 60-70%. The BP Oil spill has been going on for a month as the petrol giant is accused of dragging its feet in cleaning up the catastrophic mess. BP has been using a dispersant called Corexit, which was banned in the UK, and has yet to be taken to task for that.

Currently, BP is using a riser insertion tube tool (RITT) to channel up to 5,000 barrels of oil per day into container ships, but the leak persists.

"Later on today, I will sit with my team and review the analysis and determine whether or not we should proceed," BP CEO Tony Hayward said Wednesday morning.

"So far it's looking OK but we haven't got all of the data we need" to decide whether to move forward, he said.
