BP Oil Spill Live Feed Video Link Shows No Oil Gushing Into Gulf
For the First Time in Months No Oil Can Be Seen Gushing in to the Gulf of Mexico on the Live Feed Video Link
Now that BP has announced they have stopped the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico with a repaired cap, many are looking at the live feed link to make sure no oil can be seen leaking in to the water. There has been talk of other cracks in the well however that are still leaking, and the video does not show these alternate angles.
There are currently two places on line to watch the oil spill live feed, but both sites are experiencing heavy traffic so if the video does not work right away, be patient and refresh the page and it will load when it can.
There are now dozens of scientists and experts monitoring the cap to make sure that this temporary fix is going to hold and to monitor changes in pressure. As in this previous article, pressure must be maintained for the next 48 hours before this can be deemed any kind of a success.
Everyone is still skeptical at this point however, even BP executives do not want to create a false sense of excitement but they are hoping this is the first of many successes to getting the Gulf back to 'normal'.
That is going to take years and the permanent damage to the Gulf is still immeasurable. Scientists and conservationists are going to be working in the region for the foreseeable future and study what the long-term damage to the Gulf will be.
What Will the Next Step Be?
If this fix holds and if the oil stops gushing in to the Gulf, the next step will be to resume clean-up, starting with skimming the oil off the top of the ocean.
The permanent fix will have to be put in place, then more cleaning will have to be done as oil will continue to wash up on the beaches for months to come, even if the well has stopped gushing for good.
People will have to get their lives and businesses back to normal; there will be many lawsuits and demands for compensation and BP will be paying out money for years.
The wildlife and ecosystem will have to be attended to as well, as clean up for the animals and birds will continue and studies will have to be done to determine the long-term effects on this region.
