Hundreds of Australian farmers have been on the brink of going broke for several years. The drought has been long and hard in some areas so it is amazing that the Australian lamb industry has survived and that farming there is about to improve.
Despite being plagued by drought throughout most of 2007, the Australian lamb industry showed remarkable resilience last year and should be rewarded with a much brighter 2008.
The prospect for good seasonal conditions in 2008, combined with tighter lamb supplies and strong demand, signals the possibility of higher prices and incomes to lamb producers in the year ahead, according to Meat & Livestock Australia's 2008 Cattle and Sheep Industry Projections, released today.

Hello Jdkk,
That's wonderful news for the farmers! I'm happy to hear that most were able to make it through the drought, though sad for those that lost their sheep.
Thanks for sharing that with us! ;)

well this is a partial story if ever there was one. JDKK - go and do some reasearch so you can round it off properly.
Things like, it was NOT just 2007 that was a drought, but 4-8 years of drought
Different parts of the country have been affected different ways - in recent weeks some farmers have had their stock reduced due to floods, others have had no rain
It will take more than one good summer to bring the industry around - coming from NZ, you would know sheep don't breed like rabbits....
etc etc
So this story NEEDS WORK
