Planting a tree does not take a lot of money.  It doesn't take a lot of time.  Businesses who run promotions that plant trees can even pay others to do it for them.  There are organizations that will not only plant the trees, but will continue to help them past the early stages of life.  All they need is a little funding.

This article on WeHeartWorld highlights 10 businesses that are doing just that.  They range from big companies like Dell and IOGEAR to a surf shop and a shaving oil company.  It's dirt cheap to pay for trees to be planted, yet it seems as if businesses are avoiding it and other charities for whatever reason.

Small businesses can participate and should be the cornerstone of the movement.  Following the lead of these bigger companies, they have the opportunity to make a big difference with little effort.  I could go into the many, many, many benefits of planting trees, but that would be a chapter of a book.  Instead, take a look at some of the companies who are making a difference by offering Tree-Planting incentives to their customers.

With their “Road to a Million Trees” campaign in partnership with Trees for the Future, IOGEAR will plant a tree for every product sold on IOGEAR.com or through an IOGEAR GREEN initiative partner, with a goal of planting one million trees.  There is no additional cost associated with this program - if you buy one of their products, assume that an oak or cedar somewhere in the world will have your name figuratively on it.

Loose Fit Surf Shop in North Devon, UK, is the first “carbon zero” surf shop.  Their Surf and Trees Campaign helped them earn this.  Surfers are known for their eco-friendly ways.  It’s amazing that only one shop has made headlines by stepping up in this arena.

BabyChecklist.com is offsetting its carbon emissions associated with the shipping of BabyChecklist.com and PamperedTot.com products through Carbonfund.org, while also planting a tree for every stroller purchase.

It just makes too much sense.  When it comes down to it, many products are just about the same as their competitors.  When there is an opportunity to make a choice based upon social responsibility, it helps to prove that companies who help are the ones we want to succeed.

JD Rucker, I like this story. It's good stuff.

This is such a great idea - I would totally support any company that pays to have trees planted. This is great.

There should be more.  LOTS more.  It's literally "dirt" cheap and I for one would support companies who do things like that.

JD Rucker, I like this story. It's good stuff. I'm a big fan of the Natural Step way of life.  More corporations should take this sort of responsibility for the environment.

I totally agree with you, especially considering how simple and inexpensive it can be.

JD Rucker, I like this story. It's good stuff. In fact there is a gentleman in India who gifts Tree plant to all the couples at the wedding. He has been doing for long time and has gifted more than 2000 couple.
