NP Rank:
Canadians living normal lives exposed to chemical killers
Should we be a wee bit concerned? Government and corporations walk hand in hand. Should we trust "government approved" pesticides, cleaners, drugs? Those studies mostly come from such conglomerates as Monsanto, Con-Agri and Dupont, and government "third parties". Those same corporations who produce those noxious chemicals that make us ill, are also producing the cure for what ails you. It is all about big money --- and not a bit about keeping you well. Some of those miracle drug cures can end up killing you, too!
VANCOUVER -- David Boyd could be excused for being a little paranoid. The UBC Trudeau scholar has laboured more than a year to determine just how many Canadians die each year from pollution. The disturbing results, published in an online journal last week, show that as many as 25,000 deaths, 24,000 new cases of cancer and the birth of 2,500 low-birth-weight babies can be linked to environmental hazards each year.
By living a "normal" life, many Canadians are being exposed to hundreds of quiet, chemical killers.
