A huge blaze in the Canary Island of La Palma has destroyed hundreds of homes as it continues to burn Monday morning.
Firefighters in La Palma have apparently made progress in fighting the fires, but was still out of control in the district of Mazo. Most other areas are under control as winds ease. At least 4,000 people were forced from their homes over the weekend.
However, the local authorities on the island said that firefighters had made progress in tackling the blaze for the first time since it broke out late on Friday night, forcing 4,000 people to be removed from their homes in Mazo and Fuencaliente in the southeast of the island.

A very small territory where such a fire is equates a gigantic disaster.
